Where it all Began...
Founded by Chris Bowden in 1970, the story began at "The Owl", his father’s nightclub in Much Wenlock, Shropshire. Chris quickly became a local favourite, holding residencies at venues such as Tiffany’s, while also taking mobile discos to Young Farmers’ dances, community halls, fayres, and fetes. Alongside his long-time friend Pete Ashton, Chris worked with PA Sound & Light, providing sound and technical support for festivals, concerts, and renowned music venues nationwide.
Chris’s true passion became live sound engineering, working as the dedicated sound engineer for Back 2 Miami, a West Midlands based Soul & Motown band. He did this all while raising a family that grew up surrounded by cables, speakers, and crates of vinyl.
Among his children, it was his daughter Zara who shared his love for music most. From the age of 15, Zara was by Chris’s side at discos and PAs, soaking up every lesson, memorising track lists, and learning to read a crowd long before laptops and streaming took over the decks.

From Zara’s Parties to Tomorrow’s Joy
In 2012, with a young family of her own, Zara launched Zara’s Parties, delivering dance parties, school discos, and community events. This reignited her passion for DJing and laid the foundation for the business you see today.
By 2020, Zara re-launched the Tomorrow’s Joy name, evolving it into a modern, versatile service specialising in weddings, corporate events, and milestone celebrations. The rebrand honoured Chris’s legacy while carving out a fresh identity — blending fun, approachable vibes with elegant, professional delivery.
The Joy Continues...
Today, Tomorrow’s Joy is proudly led by Zara, following Chris’s full retirement in 2022. With over a decade of personal DJing experience (and a lifetime of musical influence), Zara brings warmth, professionalism, and a flair for creating dance floors that reflect every client’s unique story.
And the legacy isn’t stopping yet — there are already two young trainees in the family, eager to follow in Mum’s footsteps.
